The radiology residency program recognizes the Top Ten Teachers based upon resident evaluations of each faculty member. This is a semi-annual award to show appreciation to the faculty for their hard work and dedication to teaching.

Joel K. Cure, MD - (right front) Associate Professor, Neuroradiology Section. "I always look forward to working with Dr. Cure. He is enthusiastic, encouraging, and extremely intelligent. He always makes time for residents and fellows to review cases with him in person, so that we benefit from his direct input. "

David E. Hogg, MD - (right) Assistant Professor, Breast Imaging Section. "Dr. Hogg is great to work with. He prioritizes teaching and provides appropriate supervision and then autonomy on procedures. He makes a special effort to add viewbox teaching to the rotation. He is also very encouraging to residents in teaching procedures."

Ahmed Kamel, MD - (right) Instructor, VA Radiology. "Dr. Kamel is a great teacher who sets time apart daily for teaching. He always has interesting cases on hand to go over, and also makes an effort to review anatomy. I enjoyed working with him."

Matthew C. Larrison, MD - (left) Instructor, MSK and Breast Section. "He shows a true dedication to teaching. His outside studies/unknown cases were invaluable. His availability during the day was unique and helped with the learning process."

Robert R. Lopez, MD - (right) Associate Professor, MSK Section. " A great role model in the MSK section. He always puts the patient first whether in US or doing a procedure. He has built and maintains excellent relationships with the referring clinicians. He never turns down a request for help and is always willing to answer residents' questions."

Desiree E. Morgan, MD - Professor, Abdominal Imaging Section. "Dr. Morgan continually challenges the resident and tries to disseminate her considerable knowledge to him/her. Extremely competent and makes resident education a high priority."

Karthikram Raghuram, MD - (left) Assistant Professor, VA Radiology. "Dr. Raghuram is an excellent teacher of radiology. He respects residents, and treats residents as colleagues. His teaching style is constructive, and he takes time out of a busy neuro/VIR schedule to show cases 2-3 times every week. An asset to UAB/VA radiology."

Stuart A. Royal, MD - (right) Clinical Professor, Pediatric Radiology Section. "Dr. Royal is a great educator, and easily pulls a teaching point from every case, no matter how routine. He is patient in his questioning, and when an area of knowledge is found lacking, he encourages immediate reading to cement the topic; a very effective teaching style."

Joseph C. Sullivan, III, MD - Assistant Professor, Neuroradiology Section. "Dr Sullivan has been an excellent addition to the neuro staff, providing consistent viewbox resident education. His case conferences have been superb and greatly enhance resident education."

Desiree Morgan, M.D., Associate Professor, Abdominal Imaging Section - It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Morgan. Dr. Morgan is a true expert regarding the pancreas and an excellent radiologist. She spends valuable time teaching the residents and the reading room atmosphere is always pleasant. Her lectures and conferences are always worthwhile and educational. She is clearly an asset to the program. |
